Ultem 1000 - PEI Polyetherimide
What is Ultem 1000 – PEI Polyetherimide?
Ultem 1000 is a thermoplastic polyetherimide high heat polymer designed by General Electric and now SABIC for injection molding processing. Through the development of new extrusion technology, manufacturers such as API, Gehr, and Ensinger produce Ultem 1000 in a variety of stock shapes and sizes. Ultem 1000 combines excellent machinability and provides a cost savings benefit over PES, PEEK, and Kapton in high heat applications (continuous use to 340 degrees F).
Because Ultem 1000 has exceptional flame resistance with a limiting oxygen index and low NBS smoke evolution, it is ideally suited for interior components in aircraft, bus, medical, steam auto clave resistance and other vehicles where such properties are required.
