Delrin AF
What is Delrin AF?
Delrin AF is a combination of 10% to 25% oriented PTFE fluorocarbon fibers which are uniformly dispersed in Delrin acetal resin. This thermoplastic combination produces a product that possesses the strength, toughness, dimensional stability and fabrication economy approaching that of Delrin with the added properties of Teflon, the world’s most slippery solid material.
• Delrin AF blend is available from stock in standard 12 to 14% PTFE filled. (aka LF13, or HPV13)
• Full-Strength 20% PTFE Filled is available on a custom-order basis (aka Delrin 100AF or Delrin 500AF)
Delrin AF, with its excellent sliding and friction properties, is especially suited for use with moving parts where low friction and long wear are important. Bearings made of Delrin AF sustain high loads when operating at fast speeds and show little wear. These nonlubricated bearings are also essentially free of slip-stick behavior because the static and dynamic coefficients of friction are equal.
Although the initial cost may be greater, in design considerations, the cost savings with the elimination of frequent maintenance and costly lubricants makes Delrin AF cost effective.
